Rock Around The Piano

Hellooooo! How are you guys? I've been to an amazing piano show and I wanted to tell you about it :) It was really good and really fun to watch. It was about jazz, boogie woogie, blues, rock 'n' roll, ragtime and new orleans music style, but the best thing about the show were the improvisations, which made the show very stunning. The guys were so talented, i was really mesmerized.

Now I'm going to tell you more about it in terms of information, form/structure, content and function.

1-Information

The name of the band was ''The three pianeers'', it was a dutch band.

They used two pianos, a drum and a bass guitar. There were 3 pianists, one drummer and one bass guitarist.

It took place at Zaantheater, Zaandam (The Netherlands) on 10-03-2018.

2-Form/Structure

The show was on the jazzpodium. The podium decor was not exaggerated. Like i said before there were 2 pianos, a drum and a bass guitar. Entertainers were in tuxedos. The show began with a melody played by 3 pianists on one piano. They used a projection to show some old videos about ragtime, boogie woogie, rock 'n' roll and jazz composers like Scott Joplin, Ray Charles etc.

The pieces were mostly hard, fast and long. They made also stunning improvisations. By the way they were mostly not sitting on the piano chair but dancing around the piano and laughing, which made the show very interesting and fun to watch XD

3-Content

Like I said before the concert was about jazz, ragtime, boogie woogie, blues, rock 'n' roll and New Orleans music style. They began with a ragtime piece named ''The Entertainer'' by Scott Joplin. Then the show continued with blues, boogie woogie, jazz and so on. All the music styles were great, but my favorite genre was 'boogie woogie' because of its fast and crazy melodies. The jazz genre was amazing too. There were many improvisations and that made you think like ''How can these guys play such a complicated melody with no stress?'' XD.

4-Funtion

The purpose of the concert was amusement and of course listening pleasure. The guys were not only playing but they were also speaking with the audience, giving informations and entertaining the audience! I had a lot of pleasure and fun watching it.

5-My reaction

When I saw the invitation for the concert I knew that it was going to be an epic show and it was! My expectations were tottaly satisfied, so eventually I was not disappointed after the concert XD. The most impressing thing were, like I've already said, the improvisations.

In short, I'm really lucky to have seen the show and have learned different music styles. It was really stunning, interesting and fun to watch. But the odd thing was that they haven't studied conservatory, but they were like virtuoso in their musical genres. They were self-made pianists! So what i learned is, if you want to achieve great things in your life nobody can stop you :)
